Welcome to Barnsbury Housing Association’s website. We are a small local housing association, originally set up in 1967 by local professional people who wanted to see an increase in the provision of low-cost affordable housing in the borough of Islington.  

We have always operated on the basis of partnership between local people and tenants. Although small compared to many associations, BHA is the largest general needs housing association operating only in Islington, and we take pride in building and maintaining links with the local community.

BHA has expanded gradually from its initial development of 30 homes in a rehabilitated Georgian terrace in Barnsbury Street. We now offer 238 homes on five separate sites, all within a relatively close geographical area, including eight that have been converted in recent years to make them fully wheelchair accessible. Our most recent development, opened in April 2008, is a former school in a regeneration area, converted to provide 11 attractive modern flats. In total we provide homes for around 600 tenants.
